How to Create, Edit, and Delete Geofences
Geofence Setup
You can create a Geofence in 2 ways:
Create a Geofence by right clicking on the Map:
- On the Map page, right click to populate the ‘Create Geofence’ option.

- Select ‘Create Geofence’ to populate the Geofence menu.
- Proceed to step 3 in the next section.

Create a Geofence by selecting ‘Geofences’ from the Map toolbar:
- On the Map page, select ‘Geofences' from the Map toolbar to populate the Geofences menu on the right.
- Next select ‘CREATE GEOFENCE’ in the bottom right corner.

- Name your Geofence and choose whether you would like to create a Circle Geofence or a Polygon Geofence.

- For Circle Geofences:
- Click the map where you would like the Geofence to be located and the physical address will automatically populate in the location field.
- Set the desired radius.
- You will see a preview of the Geofence on the map as you adjust the Geofence.
- Expand the Geofence Alerts to set criteria on what trackers trigger the alerts and how the alerts are received.
- Click ‘SAVE.’
- For Polygon Geofences:
- Click the orange ‘DRAW FENCE’ button and zoom in on the area you would like to Geofence.

- Click on the map to outline the points of your geofence.
- You can drop as many points as you need.

- Complete the outline by connecting the last point with the first point.
- Once the points have been connected, the Geofence will turn yellow, signaling the fence creation was successful.

- Expand the Geofence Alerts to set criteria on what trackers trigger the alerts and how the alerts are received.
- Click ‘SAVE.’

How do I create a new geofence?
Creating a new geofence on the map is a simple process. You can create a geofence in 2 ways:
- From the Map screen, select ‘Geofences’ from the Map toolbar and select the ‘Create Geofence’ button on the bottom right of the menu that populates.
- OR right click on the Map and select ‘Create Geofence.’
- Choose your shape: Circle or Polygon.
- Give your new geofence a name.
- For circle geofences:
- Click the map where you would like the geofence to be located. The physical address will automatically populate in the location field.
- Set the radius.
- Choose a color.
- Click Preview to review your geofence and make adjustments as necessary.
- Click 'SAVE.'
- For polygon geofences:
- Click on the map to create the outline points of your geofence. Connect the last point to the first point to complete the fence.
- Choose a color.
- When your polygon is properly closed, you will see a preview of the designated geofence. Click ‘SAVE.’
- If the Save button is not available, your polygon has not been completely closed. Hover over your first point—your cursor will change from a flat hand to a pointed finger. Click to close the polygon and then click ‘SAVE.’

How do I edit an existing geofence?
To edit a geofence:
- Click the edit icon (pencil) next to the geofence. Change the name and/or color of the geofence as desired.
- For a polygon geofence, drag the dots on the fence border into new positions.
- For a circle geofence, change the radius to reflect the new coverage area you desire.
- Click Preview to check your new geofence settings. Make additional adjustments, or click ‘SAVE.’
How do I see more than one geofence at a time?
To see more than one geofence at a time, simply use the checkboxes to the left of the geofence name. Click one or more checkbox to see the geofences on the map.
What are Geofence Speeding Alerts?
Geofence Speeding alerts are triggered when the device is reporting a speed over the set threshold within a geofence.
You can use the geofences you already have in place or create a new geofence for specific spots such as school zones, construction zones, or temporary roads. Geofence alerts help keep an eye on speed where it really counts.
You can set a customizable speed alert limit within a designated geofenced area to monitor how current speeds compare to the set threshold. This solution is particularly ideal for zones with lower speed limits, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

How do I set up speeding alerts in geofences?
To set up speeding alerts in geofences:
- Select ‘Setup' from the top toolbar and select ‘Alert Settings’ from the left menu.
- Scroll down to find 'Geofence Speeding Alerts.'
- Select your geofence from the dropdown ‘Geofence(s)’ menu.
- Enter your speed threshold.
- Click ‘+’ to add another geofence.
- Click ‘-’ to remove a geofence.
- Click ‘SAVE CHANGES.’


Where can I find geofence speeding alerts?
Geofence speeding alerts appear in the Alerts report.

How do I get notified if my driver is speeding in a geofence?
To set up Geofence Speeding alert notifications:
- Log in to your Customer Portal and from the Map page click Setup
- On the left menu bar, select General Notifications
- Click +Add Notification
- Enter a name for your notification.
- Choose which Trackers, Drivers, or Groups will be monitored for this notification.
- Use the arrows between the columns to make your selections.
- Select which Alerts you would like to receive in this Notification based on your personal or business needs.
- Choose the frequency and medium that you would like to receive the Notification.
- Note: Daily and Hourly summaries are only available via email.
- Click ‘SAVE.’
